Bailey

The story of how I got Bailey, my youngest dog. I am actually surprised I remembered how I first saw her and how I got her, because I have the worst memory ever!

Anyway, I was a normal Saturday in Cayman, blazing hot. I was in west bay with my mom and one of her friends, and I saw this tiny little white fluff ball for a dog. As usual I screamed and was all over her, but that's when I saw she was crawling with flees, the poor thing was the size of my hand and was being attacked by flees and ticks. I hate seeing any animal in that type of situation, so I went to the owner of the house she was at and asked who's she was. He said that it was his sons dog but at the time he was in jail so he was taking care of her. So I asked if it was okay I could take her and get her cleaned up because I was concerned about her health. He agreed, but along with Bailey there was another dog chained up on a tree in the yard, he was just a few days away from dying of starvation. So we asked to take him too, and he also agreed to that.
(When Bailey was still at the Humane Society)
We gathered both dogs and funny enough my moms friend had flee spray, so we sprayed both of them down before getting them in the car. I held Bailey in my hands wrapped in a towel, and the other puppy, Lucky, was in the seat next to me. We took both of them to the Humane Society because we couldn't take them ourselves. We couldn't take them because my house already had two dogs and I couldn't risk contaminating them with anything Bailey and Lucky had. Anyway we took them to the shelter and they accepted them. I told the lady to make sure no one takes the little white fluffy one, she chuckled and said okay. I went back the next week to ask about both dogs, the report was Bailey had ringworm so she had to stay in the shelter for six weeks! While Lucky was fine except he was starved and the lady told us if we didn't bring him in that day it was unlikely he would survive. I was relieved that both dogs were being taken care of and getting better. For the next six weeks I went to the Humane Society as much as I could, I visited both dogs when I went.
First day!
Although I wanted to take both of them home with me, I couldn't. So I had to choose and my mom said that we are not getting another big dog, and even thought lucky was 20 pounds he was only a few months old and they said he would get bigger. Whereas Bailey was tiny at only a couple months, they said she wouldn't get much bigger and I loved her so much. So six weeks later I went home with the most gorgeous dog ever!

The sad part was that the time she spent in the shelter was the exact time she needed to associate with other dogs and humans. So now she is very timid around new people but she has improved a lot in a year. I wouldn't trade her for anything!

Down to this day she would do anything for me and vice versa, and I think she is the only dog who really listens to me, lol.
First day home
After a couple of weeks at her new home.
